Over the next few days, you will see crews working in the courtyard to trim back and, in some cases, remove select trees across the property.
This work is part of a broader effort to improve safety, protect the buildings, and make the courtyard a more functional and enjoyable space. It’s also something that several residents have already requested, and we’ve received very positive feedback when discussing these plans on-site.
There are three main reasons for this work:
1) Protecting the Roofs
Some trees have grown very close to the buildings and rooflines. This increases the risk of damage from branches, especially during storms, and can also accelerate wear on the roofing materials. Trimming back these areas—and removing a few trees where necessary—helps reduce that risk and supports the ongoing roof improvements.
2) Improving Lighting and Visibility
Over time, dense tree coverage has reduced natural light in parts of the courtyard. By opening up these areas, we can improve visibility and create a brighter, more comfortable environment.
3) Supporting Drainage and Landscaping Improvements
Falling leaves have contributed to clogged gutters and poor drainage in certain areas. This can lead to standing water and prevent grass from growing properly. Reducing excess tree coverage will help keep gutters clear and allow us to re-establish grass in currently bare sections of the courtyard.
This work may temporarily create some noise and activity, but it is an important step toward making the courtyard:
- Cleaner
- Better drained
- Easier to maintain
- More enjoyable for residents
As always, we appreciate your patience while these improvements are underway and look forward to the positive impact they will have on the property.
