Fireplaces are a feature that many people associate with comfort, but they also come with important safety and cost considerations—especially in a multifamily setting.
At Rockwell Gardens, we aim to have a safe and cost-effective living environment. Because of that, fireplaces are not part of the long-term plan for the property.
There are a few key reasons for this:
- Fireplaces introduce a higher fire risk, particularly when used inconsistently or without proper ventilation
- They can significantly impact insurance costs and coverage options
- Increased insurance costs ultimately affect the overall cost structure of the property
For these reasons, fireplace usage is already restricted, and over time, we expect to move toward fully removing or decommissioning them as part of broader improvements.
We want to be transparent about this direction early, so there are no surprises later.
Our goal is to prioritize features and systems that contribute to a safe and cost-efficient living environment for everyone.
